Popular uprising in Yemen
Following the revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt, protests in Yemen began in January 2011. Protesters began with the demands for better living conditions and against corruption. As protests grew and were met with repression from the regime, the demands escalated to the removal of Ali Abdullah Salih's regime. Protesters come from all sections of Yemeni society: liberal students and human rights activists (who started the uprising), as well as tribesman and Islamists. To this date, dozens of protesters have been killed, hundreds arrested and over a thousand injured. More
