The Amazigh community (also called Berbers) are a large, diverse community of about 30 million people spread across Northern Africa. Under the reign of many North African governments, the Amazigh community suffered from Arabization, and often their culture and language was banned and they were persecuted. After the revolutions in Tunisia and Libya, the Amazigh community have been protesting for representation and demanding their rights as a people.
