#FastFoodGlobal Day of Action
More Info
On May 15, 2014, fast food workers across the United States are striking to demand a $15-an-hour USD wage and the right to unionize. In the United States, the majority of fast food workers are paid federal minimum wage, which amounts to $7.25 per hour before taxes. It's a wage that activists argue is insufficient for supporting the everyday expenses of workers and their families. The American fast food industry has the largest gap between CEO pay and the wages of its workers, and wages are similarly low when this industry brings its exports abroad. Fast food workers in over 30 countries around the world are striking in solidarity with the American movement, and to demand their own wage increases and labor rights.
