Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a movement for racial justice in the United States which began in 2012 after the acquittal of George Zimmerman for the killing of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed Black teenager. Since its inception, BLM has organized actions throughout the country in response to vigilante and police violence targeting Black people, and seeks to end systematic inequality while “working for the validity of Black life”. The movement's platform includes demands for economic parity, police reform, and an end to mass incarceration. http://blacklivesmatter.com
