Asylum Seekers in Australia
Australia, a popular location for asylum seekers from Sri Lanka and Indonesia, is in the process of amending its legislation as a result of the influx of those seeking refuge. The new legislation will allegedly deport new asylum seekers. The journey to Australia from their countries of origin are perilous for asylum seekers, with boats filled with migrant families often sinking and resulting in devastating casualties. Most recently, the Australian government has suggested a new policy that would send asylum seekers to Nauru or Manus Island.
