Instability in Pakistan

More Info
Although Pakistan’s newly elected government is democratic in name, the state's military maintains a great deal of power and has yet to transfer it to the country's new leadership. Sectarian violence is rampant across the country, with the Pakistani authorities failing to hold accountable those complicit in such violence. Minorities are persecuted, journalists and activists are systematically targeted, and women continue to face widespread abuse. Demonstrations are also breaking out due to citizens' demands for a reformed electoral system and the installation of a new government that will instate and uphold a true democracy.
