Human Rights Violations Against Immigrants in North America

More Info
The United States has more than 11 million immigrants, with Mexicans constituting 64.9% of the total Hispanic population. An estimated 3 million Mexicans live illegally in the US. Annually, thousands of human rights violations occur along the border of United States and Mexico. In 2012, the Mexican authorities registered 472 deaths on the border. Mexico also works to prevent hundreds of thousands of Central and South Americans from crossing its southern border every year. The issues has increasingly worsened as a result of the economic recession in the US and Europe, which is compounded by Mexico's low rate of job creation and problems related to the Mexican drug cartel’s violence.
