Democratization in Burma/Myanmar

More Info
Following the election of activist and former political prisoner, Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar/Burma’s leadership is transforming from that of an authoritarian government to what is hoped to be a democracy. However, full control has yet to be stripped from the military, which continues to repress any form of dissent or influence over the country's impoverished economy. Burma’s move towards democracy is welcome, but still incomplete, as the pro-democracy movement itself continues to create divisions between ethnic groups.
