Vietnam’s socialist government has increasingly suppressed its citizens’ right to freedom of expression -- going so far as to criminalizing any form of expression that criticizes the government, conveys dissent, or highlights topics the state would rather keep under wraps. As a result, many activists, journalists, and bloggers have been persecuted and arbitrarily detained, with many remaining in custody for years without a trial. More
