In India, the right to freedom of expression is severely limited, especially in terms of restricting of criticism of the state or its courts. In the past year, many have been detained for criticizing the government, including professors, artists, and more. Most recently, a cartoonist was charged with sedition for criticizing the government in his work; he is refusing to leave jail until the government drops his charges. More
