Same-Sex Marriage Bill in France

More Info
On January 13, 2013 some 125,000 citizens and activists came out in support of a bill that would allow gay couples in France to have civil marriages and to adopt children. On January 29, 2013, the National Assembly voted in favor of the reform, which redefined marriage as a union between two people rather than a union between a man and a woman exclusively. Opinion polls have shown that a majority of French voters support gay marriage (63%), and approval for adoption by gay parents is nearly 50%. Solidarity rallies have continued ahead of the February 12, 2013 vote that will determine the final verdict.
