Secret Executions in Gambia

More Info
At the end of August 2012, Gambia secretly executed nine prisoners, including one woman and two Senegalese, by firing squad. In violation of international law, the executions were carried out without giving prior notice to the prisoners’ families or lawyers. Gambia, which hasn’t employed the death penalty since 1985, has since announced through President Jammeh that the remaining 38 death row prisoners would be executed by mid-September.
