Workers from Sulcis protest during Italian Ministers' meeting with local authorities

More Info
The Italian Minister for Economic Development, Corrado Passera, and the Minister for Territorial Cohesion, Fabrizio Barca, yesterday visited the Sulcis, the poorest Italian Province, located in Sardinia (north-west of Cagliari). The Sardinian industry was born in the Sulcis and now is likely to die permanently here, with no hope of resurrection. The two Ministers met with the local authorities, the union representatives and the representatives from the industries, and agreed on a plan for re-launching the economy of the area. Protests erupted outside and characterised this long day. Few hopes are left among workers - mostly dependent on an unemployment insurance - and feeling like they have nothing to loose. This was one of the protests organised in the island in the past year.
