Discriminatory Practices Against Women in Bangladesh

More Info
The Bengali government has implemented laws and statutes that relegate women to the position of a second class citizen. They are systematically restricted in access to services, education, health care, and job training. The state has worked to emphasize the lower status of women and to preserve the “traditional roles” of women. This often strips women of their independence while increasing their likelihood of poverty and their reliance on men. Moreover, domestic abuse against women is still rampant, as are sexual assaults and acid burning.
